Hi All,

I asked this before but no one knew.

The difference in taste between my green onions and
my bunching onions

https://kitazawaseed.com/products/onion-bunching-tokyo-long-white-seeds?variant=422303010

is that I can eat the bunching onions raw and not
hurl. My green onions need to be cooked. They are very,
very strong.

if you look back the past few years i've mentioned the
Tokyo onions as being very mild onion and easy to eat
fresh.

however, since i normally eat raw onions and raw garlic
full strength i don't find eating any kind of onion too
much, except if i manage to do it on a hot day with an
empty stomach <-- that is not a recommendation for anyone...

how hot an onion is does depend a lot upon the variety -
some are milder than others. if you took seeds for any of
the noted mild onions and grew them as a a green onion and
harvested them early and ate them you would likely find
they are milder.

alas, onions easily will cross so if you are growing
multiple kinds of onions you need to either space them
far apart or have them blooming at different times.

as it turns out the earliest onions blooming here are
the Tokyo onions. use the seeds from those that set pods
the earliest and discard the rest.
